Earlier this week I was able to marathon watch and finish Kokkoku:Moment by Moment. It’s a 1-cour series but the staff managed to pack a lot into each episode, that by the end it feels resolved and wrapped up.

Kokkoku was dark and gritty, similar to Ajin in monster design and plot, and also to The Perfect Insider (although I have not watched this series yet). Grandpa was my favorite character, and probably the second strongest Yukawa after Juri. He was like a guide and the most informative to the world building aspects towards Stasis. The plot was interesting and original although some mysteries stayed... well, mysteries!

I plan on reading the manga soon too.

The Promised Neverland has also started! I can’t believe how good the voice actors are. I even mistook Emma’s and Norman’s voice actresses because Emma sounds so bubbly! But Maaya Uchida is in fact Norman. I hope we get a genuine adaption from the manga which is currently on chapter 118! Get ready for cliff-hanger roller coaster...

Yesterday I ended up dowloading a few apps for a change of pace. The ones I installed and kept are: Pastel Girl, Monster Girl Maker, SimsMobile, and CustomCast. I’m still playing Nikki every day! But I’ve made a lot of progress in Sims, to the point where my characters have gotten married and are planning for a baby. There’s still plenty of time in the month so I’m focusing on getting inspired instead of constantly producing.

In Houseki no Kuni (now known as Land of the Lustrous), gems are a sexless lifeform with resilience and longevity living on the Earth long after the extinction of humanity. However I believe they develop their own sense of gender after years of living. They are the only species of human similarity to not have sex characteristics, unlike the Lunarians and the Admirabilis.

As Lunarians are the souls of humanity, Admirabilis are the flesh of humanity, and Gems are the bones of humanity, one can say ‘bones do not have sexual characteristics’. I am here to inform you that they in fact do! I studied a Forensics Science course in school so yes, for identifying skeletons there are many differences between male and female bones. Before we get off topic, let me list which gems I imagine are masculine or feminine.
GEMS )
Before Houseki no Kuni had an anime and became more mainstream, the English manga scalators decided to use feminine pronouns (she/her) for the gems due to their feminine body shapes. However the original pronouns were ambiguous/masculine (he/him) as well as the way they refer to each other: Older/Younger Brother, Brethren, that guy, etc. The author has also stated they have the beauty, speed, and flexibility of human females but the spirit, strength, and rigidity of human males.
Of course, the structure of English language is different from Japanese so it’s much more difficult to keep ambiguity. That is probably why we are conflicted to refer to the gems as a whole as ‘Them’. As I haven’t studied their speech patterns yet, this list is base of my own judgement of each gem’s pronouns, how they present themselves, and their actions.
